VR’s Impact on Pain and Perception

“This was helpful because I felt calm. I had a way to disconnect from other things around me. I was focused on the tasks instead of thinking about my negative feelings.”

— 17-year-old female

“My teen clients loved the IMT experience! They said it gave them a welcome break from reality, was fun, and inspired a client who formerly wasn’t exercising regularly to begin working out regularly to improve her mental health.”

— Leanne, a Clinical Mental Health Therapist

“The best part was playing in the headset because it was fun, I got a little dizzy, but not enough to not play. I want to know when I can come back for the next session.”

— 15-year-old male

“I found the nature scenes very calming and very real feeling. The supernatural “workouts” got my blood pumping, which I surprisingly found to be relaxing. The people and the workouts aren’t overwhelming or overstimulating. The little things, such as essential oils and the grounding mat increase the calming effects.”

— 17-year-old girl

Meet the Creator of Immersive Medical Therapy

In 2020, I encountered a pivotal moment in my practice—three teens, all severely depressed, in urgent need of help. Despite my dedication, I found myself frustrated: counseling and CBT options were hard to access, and psychiatric care often meant months-long wait times. I knew there had to be another way.

Driven by a deep sense of responsibility and compassion, I began searching for answers. I spoke with psychiatrists, counselors, and parents. I dove into research, reviewed the literature, and leaned into my own passions and clinical experience. Through that journey, Immersive Medical Therapy (IMT) was born.

IMT is my response to the gaps I saw in care—an innovative, holistic, and accessible solution designed to meet adolescents where they are. I truly believe this work is not only possible, but essential. Together, we can do more—and do better—for the mental health of our youth.
